On the 14th of October in Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw, WTS Patent Attorneys and DBS hosted a seminar entitled “IP litigation in Poland”. The purpose of this event was to introduce the participants to legal procedures applicable in disputes involving inventions and trademarks. 

The expert presentations concerned both judicial proceedings as well as the opposition proceedings before the Polish Patent Office. Our speakers emphasized the changes implemented by the amendment of the Code of Civil Procedure in 2020, which led to the establishment of specialized IP courts. 

The meeting was attended by numerous representatives of the business sector, from innovative startups to renowned pharmaceutical corporations. 

Judging by the participants’ reactions, the program of the event met their expectations. We hope that the knowledge shared during the seminar will help them navigate the newly reshaped legal reality, and the practical tips offered will assist them in planning the protection of their industrial property rights. 

It is worth adding that, after the seminar, WTS has invited its participants as well as colleagues from DBS to a reception celebrating its 20th anniversary. We met at the venue Qchnia Artystyczna in Warsaw where we continued our conversations in a friendly and less formal atmosphere. A jazz trio provided a musical setting while we raised a toast and had a dinner. Afterwards, many of us found ourselves on a dance floor.
